Having never been on a studio set for a TV show before, I had no idea what to expect. My initial thoughts were that it would be very structured with us sitting in the audience not able to connect at all with the actors or crew of the set. Looking in from afar, sitting quietly, not understanding what the process is all about, wondering why I just didn’t wait to see it on the TV, saving the 2 hour drive in LA traffic, and on and on and on. But in reality the experience was totally the opposite of all of these thoughts. Our day started with a meet and greet in the commissary with the actors and crew. The actors were actually very proactive about joining us at our table and sharing stories about the show and their past productions. How fun to get a picture with Grant show, Jenna Elfman, Jon Foster and the rest of the crew…..we weren’t even in the studio yet, NICE!
After heading into the studio, we were ushered down onto the studio set and able to take pictures. I have a whole new appreciation for what you see on TV and what is on the set. I can now say that I sat on the toilet in Jenna Elfman’s apartment……at least on the set of Accidentally On Purpose…..but who has to know that part! Lisa and I tried to get Jon Foster into the bed (after knocking up Jenna Elfman’s character, who needs us?), but he was obviously busy shooting his lines for the show. We did get some juicy tidbits out of him in a conversation later though! And who knew Grant Show was a wisecracker? How did he get away with all those broody, serious parts all those years?
The set warmer Tony Edwards (@tonyedwards for all you tweeps out there) was a riot! He made sure to keep us entertained in between shots with funny stories, storylines and information about the show. And let’s not forget the free food and beverages through the night!
Before, during, and after all of these activities we were tweeting away and uploading pictures to twitpic to share with each of our respective tweeps…..GREAT idea CBS! We loved the opportunity to share this great new show with our friends/followers. Every single person from the staff, crew, and actors were super nice and genuine and I recommend to all of our favorite listeners to tune in to our next show at www.only2degrees.com to hear more about our adventures. It will make you want to schlep all the way to LA to check it out for yourself!
Thanks for stopping by

Tweeting on the set of Accidentally on Purpose!
Darcy and I drove the 2 hour trip to CBS studio in Studio City, near Los Angeles, Ca, from Temecula. We were excited about the opportunity to meet up with the cast & crew of Accidentally on Purpose, but really had no idea what to expect. Other than viewing the Tonight Show with Jay Leno earlier in the year, neither of us had been on a TV set (excluding the time that I was on Romper Room with Miss MaryAnn in the early 70’s).
When we got in the elevator in the parking garage of CBS, some nice lady told us that the filming for Accidentally on Purpose had been cancelled. But we knew better! They must’ve cancelled for the general public, in anticipation of this fabulous PR idea – Tweet Up on the set! Sure enough – before we knew it, Mitch had greeted us with some special VIP treatment – dinner and conversation with the cast! Woohoo!
We were there for several hours – and not a minute went by that wasn’t entertaining, fun, informative, or fascinating. We had pictures taken with the cast, we sat on the couch of the set (Darcy sat on the toilet in bathroom!), we got to hold a script (Darcy tried to run with it, but Mitch caught her!), and we played trivia with Tony Edwards, the audience warmer-upper! We ate in the break room with Jenna, Ashley and Lennon, and flirted (silently) with Grant, Nic and Jon.
What a great crew and cast!! Genuine, kind, and fun! It really opened my eyes to how the process works. I can’t wait to go back again!! Great job, CBS!
Tweet-tweet!
